A one day orientation on Legislative Drafting was organized by the Pakistan Institute for Parliamentary Services (PIPS) in collaboration with the Strengthening Democracy Through Parliamentary Development SDPD Project- UNDP. Mr Malik Hakam Khan, former Addl. Secretary (Ministry of Law), who has the distinction of being Pakistan’s acknowledged legislative drafter for decades, discussed the various principles of legislative drafting, semantics of a bill, essential parts of a bill and the role of committee staff to enable parliamentarians in making timely and relevant legislative input.
